tgs 2/4 - we must protect taylor swift at all costs

we must protect taylor swift at all costs

taylor swift and elon musk are the same to me. they are in the news every week and it’s one of those ugh i don’t really want to talk about it but okay i guess we have to talk about it type things.

tay tay came up a couple times this week because she won’t be on tiktok anymore and republicans think she is a plant for the biden administration. at the end of the day, this shit doesn’t really affect me but there’s a clear theme i can elicit from these weekly detours: taylor has the largest audience of anyone in the world and everyone wants to control it.

how big is taylor’s army of ardent fans? well… china reported over 2 million active military personnel in january of 2024, with india in second at 1.5 million and the US in third at 1.3 million. meanwhile, over 50% of adults in the US identify as swift fans. that is 130 million people.

so what happens when you have that many people who love you? over 4 million of which bought tickets to your wildly expensive tour? some people see a threat, and some people see an opportunity.

republicans see an impending threat and are trying to undermine a potential biden endorsement from taylor by waxing every conspiracy theory under the sun. UMG sees an economic jackhammer and are weaponizing swift fans by taking her music off of the fastest growing social platform in the world.

all i’m saying is, everybody wants and piece when she just wants to eat dinner. and with arguably more influence than any world leader, taylor deserves the best damn therapist there ever was and a secret service detail.
